RECREATION PROGRAMS UPDATE:
The following are updates regarding Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Resources programs and events:

Winter/Spring classes and events scheduled through early June have been canceled.

A Community Resources Guide, which includes information for Summer recreation programs and Fall Athletic Leagues, has been developed and will be mailed to patrons soon.  It is currently available online by clicking HERE.

Summer Program and Fall Athletic League Registration
Registration for Summer programs and Fall Athletic Leagues will begin on the following dates:
Monday, June 8th – Registration begins for all Carrboro Residents
Tuesday, June 9th – Registration begins for all other participants

Until further notice, no in-person/walk-in registration will be accepted.  Once registration opens, signing up for programs may be accomplished via the following methods:

Online Registration via WebTrac. Visit www.carrbororec.org to view more information on RecConnect Online Registration.
Mail-In Registration – Forms will be available via www.carrbororec.org and in the forthcoming Community Resources Guide.
Drop Box Registration – Mail-In registration forms and checks may also be dropped off outside of the main entrance of the Carrboro Century Center

Summer Camp Updates
All INDOOR summer camps scheduled during the month of June have been cancelled.  Virtual activities may be offered in place of some of these camps.
OUTDOOR summer camps, where social distancing measures are feasible, will be held as scheduled in June.  Some outdoor camps may be cancelled.
Summer Camps scheduled for July and August will be evaluated at a later date and an update will be provided.

Department staff will be providing updates to those who are currently registered for summer camps. Camps must still meet minimum registration requirements in order to be held.

Freight Train Blues Concert Series
The annual Freight Train Blues Concert Series in-person events that occur at Town Commons have been cancelled.  However, the department is pleased to announce concerts will be broadcast on 97.9 The Hill and streamed online at www.freighttrainblues.com

July 4th Celebration
The annual July 4th Celebration and related activities at Town Hall and Weaver Street Market have been cancelled.  The department will offer alternative activities, including the annual Frederick Douglass Essay Reading, in place of the physical events.  Please continue to follow Town of Carrboro social media channels and the July 4th event website (www.carrborojuly4th.com) for details as they are announced.

Refunds
For classes and events that have been cancelled due to COVID-19, participants will receive a full credit on their accounts.  Participants electing to withdraw will be given a pro-rated refund and administrative fees for Summer program refunds, including summer camps, will be waived.  Participants who prefer to have their registration fee balances refunded are asked to contact our Administrative Assistant via email at dsanders@townofcarrboro.org

Future Classes and Events
The Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Resources Department will continue to evaluate future classes and events.  Adjustments, such as reduction of class sizes and/or changes to program delivery methods, including social distancing and other public health strategies, may need to be implemented to ensure the health and well-being of participants.  We will continue to provide updates as they occur.
