Past Meeting

The Carrboro Town Council met Tuesday, Sept. 13, and took the following actions on the agenda posted at   https://bit.ly/3dd8Bip

  • Received the second quarter report for calendar year 2022 for the Town of Carrboro’s Community Development Block Grant - Coronavirus award from the NC Department of Commerce. The Town of Carrboro applied for, and was awarded, $900,000 in CDBG-CV funds to be used with the Orange County’s existing Emergency Housing Assistance (EHA) program, which provides financial assistance to help Orange County residents with low incomes secure and maintain stable housing.
  • Appointed Jim Porto to serve as the Economic Sustainability Commission voting liaison member of the Racial Equity Commission.
  • Received a presentation from the Management Advisory Group, International (MAG) on the findings of a positions classification and compensation study. The goal of this study was to position the Town of Carrboro as a competitive employer by providing a sound compensation strategy, ensuring equitable compensation across all Town positions, and addressing recruitment and retention challenges within the tight labor market. The Council is scheduled to consider accepting and authorizing the full implementation of the study at its Sept. 20 meeting.
  • Approved exempting after-hours concrete work for the 203 S. Greensboro St. Project. The Council heard from Barnhill Contracting Co. about their procedures for mitigating noise disturbances connected to construction. The project will require about eight early morning (deemed after-hours) concrete pours to complete construction of the building and parking deck. These pours are expected to take place prior to 7 a.m. Learn more at http://www.townofcarrboro.org/1151/The-203-Project
  • Amended rules of procedure for Town of Carrboro boards and commissions to allow remote participation by members at its meetings. The intent is to promote full participation by members of Town boards while ensuring access and transparency for the public.
  • Appointed Benjamin Blaisdell and Wamiq Chowdhury to the Community Safety Task Force.
