Update: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023 -- Suspect Charged in Homicide Investigation
Sedgwick Raynard Barnes Jr., age 30, was charged with First Degree Murder for the stabbing death of Kenneth Michael Moseley on the night of August 2, 2023, at Town Commons located at 301 W. Main St. Barnes Jr. is being held in the Orange County Jail with no bond.
This remains an active investigation and we are unable to release additional information at this time.

Update: 1:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 7, 2023 -- Carrboro Police Continue Investigating Homicide
The Carrboro Police Department is continuing to investigate a stabbing that occurred at approximately 9 p.m. on the night of Aug. 2, 2023, at Town Commons located at 301 W. Main St. An adult male victim was transported to UNC Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as Kenneth Michael Moseley, 50 years old, of Durham. This investigation is still active and ongoing.

Carrboro Police Report: Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023 -- Carrboro Police Investigating Homicide
The Carrboro Police Department is investigating a stabbing that occurred at approximately 9 p.m. on the night of Aug. 2, 2023, at Town Commons located at 301 W. Main St. An adult male victim was transported to UNC Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Currently the police department believes this is an isolated incident. The investigation is ongoing and active, and updates will be provided as appropriate.
