TOWN OF CARRBORO APPLICATION FOR CDBG-CV FUNDS FOR EMERGENCY HOUSING ASSISTANCE - October 27th, 2020 at 7:00 pm
The Town of Carrboro plans to apply to the North Carolina Department of Commerce for $900,000 in Federal Community Development Block Grant – Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funds, which the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) allocated to the State.
These funds will be used for the Emergency Housing Assistance (EHA) program administered by Orange County, which provides emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities, and other housing-related costs to Town residents with low incomes and urgent need for housing assistance. If awarded the full $900,000 (the maximum grant amount), at least 90 percent of funds would be used as direct financial assistance to beneficiaries and no more than 10 percent would be used for administration of the program. Receiving these funds would provide significant benefit to low-income households in the Town of Carrboro by promoting housing stability and economic relief.

The first hearing will be held before the Town’s application has been drafted, and the second will be held after it is drafted but before submission.
The first Public Hearing will be held during the Town of Carrboro Town Council virtual meeting on October 27th, 2020 at 7:00 pm. The second public hearing will be on November 10th, 2020 at 7:00 pm.
