Investigators with the Carrboro Police Department have taken out charges on four suspects for the shooting incident that occurred outside of Wendy’s restaurant at 100 S. Greensboro St., on August 2, 2021.
A total of four suspects were identified during the course of the investigation. Juvenile petitions were obtained for all four suspects, each charged with the following offenses: Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder, Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle Inflicting Serious Injury, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, and Possession of a Handgun by a Minor. At the time of the incident, one suspect was 17 years old and the other three individuals were 16 years old.
The petitions were filed with Juvenile Justice with the NC Department of Public Safety. Three of the suspects are currently being held in juvenile detention facilities on unrelated charges from other agencies. The fourth suspect will be taken into custody by Juvenile Justice and confined in a juvenile detention facility as well. Because of the age of the suspects, we are unable to release additional identifying information.
The investigation has determined that this was an isolated incident, and we do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
