[ARCHIVED] Winter Weather Updates

Winter Weather Updates

1/17/2018 PM UPDATE

Administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, January 18.

With the amount of snowfall and length of the storm, public works crews are focused on primary roads. Sidewalk clearing and treatment has been delayed as a result. Snow removal and surface treatment operations will continue through the night on roadways. Sidewalk clearing and treatment will begin tomorrow.

Residents are advised to stay inside as the storm dumped as much as eight inches on the county, more in some places. Many secondary roads are impassable, and Orange County Emergency Services reports that emergency vehicles are experiencing difficulty traversing the roads. Do not go on the roads unless it is an emergency.

 For emergencies, please call 9-1-1.

1/17/2018 AM UPDATE

Administrative offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 17.

Significant snowfall is still expected throughout the day. If possible please stay off the roads and move any vehicles or objects that may obstruct snow removal operations. Snow removal and surface treatment is anticipated throughout the day and night into tomorrow morning. Public works has two snow removal crews to provide 24 hour operations throughout the storm.

Trash collection scheduled for today and tomorrow is cancelled. The Wednesday and Friday schedule will be collected on Friday. Thursday's route will be collected on Monday.

1/16/2018 PM UPDATE

Public Works has applied brine mix to the roadways today in preparation for the winter storm anticipated for tonight and tomorrow morning. If the storm arrives as predicted, crews will begin applying a salt/sand mix to roadways in the early morning hours tomorrow and will continue with snow removal and treatment on roadways and sidewalks.

Wednesday trash collection will be collected on Friday. Thursday and Friday collection routes will remain as normally scheduled.
