The Carrboro Board of Aldermen met on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Following is a brief summary of noteworthy actions. It does not include all actions taken at the meeting and should not be viewed as official minutes.   • Mayor Lavelle proclaimed October 2018 Domestic Violence Awareness Month
  • The Board of Aldermen passed a resolution adopting October 2, 2018 as “Indigenous People’s Day.”
  • Charlie Hileman addressed the Board and asked for a review of bike parking requirements.
  • The Board approved the reassignment of Michelle Walker for the Carrboro seat on the Orange County Animal Services Hearing Pool.
  • The Board was provided with a monthly update on economic development activity in Carrboro.
  • Representatives with UNC shared information with the Board about Student Housing.
  • Katie Murray, Orange County Executive Director for the Orange County Arts Commission presented findings from the Arts and Economics Prosperity IV.
  • Annette Stone, Carrboro Economic and Community Development Director, and Trish McGuire the Town’s Planning Director presented short and long term parking management strategies to accommodate parking during the construction of The 203 Project. Iain Banks with parking consultants Nelson-Nygaard also presented Information on the parking program for building users and those who presently park in the public parking.
  •  Zack Hallock, Carrboro Transportation Planner, presented the Board with an update on Transportation Projects.
