Proclaimed Andrew (Andy) Sachs Day
Mayor Lavelle presented Andrew Sachs with a proclamation upon his retirement. Sachs is well known in the community and was honored at the October 23, 2018 Board of Aldermen meeting for his many contributions to the community. Read the proclamation below.
In Appreciation ofAndrew SachsUpon His Retirement WHEREAS, the Town of Carrboro desires to recognize and honor Andrew “Andy” Sachs for his dedicated and distinguished contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, Andy has worked as a mediator, facilitator and conflict resolution trainer since 1980; and
WHEREAS, Andy is a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution (Environment and Public Policy Sector), and is a former member of the Mediation Network of North Carolina Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Andy initiated a public disputes program at the Dispute Settlement Center in 1987; and
WHEREAS, Andy has assisted government, business, non-profit, and community organizations to resolve conflict, discuss difficult topics, and develop skills in consensus-building by providing mediation, meeting facilitation, training, and consulting; and
WHEREAS, Andy has performed these activities for the Town of Carrboro on many occasions over the years, including serving as the facilitator for the Board’s annual retreat several times; and
WHEREAS, Andy has made a difference in our community; and
WHEREAS, Andy will retire from the Dispute Settlement Center on October 31st 2018; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Lavelle and the Carrboro Board of Aldermen want to wish Andy a heartfelt congratulations upon his retirement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Lydia Lavelle, Mayor of the Town of Carrboro, North Carolina, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, October 24, 2018, as “Andy Sachs Day” in the Town of Carrboro in appreciation of his work in our community.
