Carlina Duan

Carlina Duan is the author of the poetry collections I Wore My Blackest Hair (Little A, 2017), and Alien Miss (Univ. of Wisconsin Press, 2021). She is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where she teaches poetry. Carlina’s recent poems appear in POETRY, Narrative Magazine, Poets.org, The Kenyon Review, Poetry Daily, The Slowdown Show, and elsewhere. 

She is the recipient of awards and artist residencies from Tin House, the Academy of American Poets, the Fulbright Program, Hedgebrook, the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, and other places. Carlina is working on her next book of poems, which focuses on transcription, translation, and the place of poetry in our cultural imagination. Among many things, she loves river walks, snail mail, and being a sister.
